Cusco Hotels by MLP
El Mercado by Mountain Lodges of Peru’s (MLP), in the heart of Cusco, features original, eye-catching interiors and exceptional customer service. El Mercado is built on the site of a former market located just a few blocks from Cusco’s main Plaza de Armas square. Just as the countryside’s best products are brought to a market, El Mercado brings the magic of the Apus - the spirits of the mountains - to the city. The hallmarks of the MLP experience - warm Peruvian hospitality and attention to detail - create something special and different in this fascinating city. There is a fire pit in the courtyard for cold evenings, and little touches and original design set this hotel apart.
27 Superior rooms, 3 Junior Suites and 2 Suites are charming and well-equipped, boasting original décor. Junior suites have fireplaces and stand-alone bathtubs. Main suites are ideal for small families, or for those seeking the extra space with a terrace or a private dining/living room.
La Taberna restaurant - open for lunch/dinner and après - is a cool spot with great fresh market food. For those looking for a culinary adventure, or just a drink, this is the place to meet after the day's activities. The separate breakfast room features an array of delicious dishes and a stand preparing fresh juices and smoothies to order.
XO Art House opened its doors at the beginning of 2019 for guests wanting intimate, boutique style accommodation. The hotel is housed in a converted casona, a large traditionally-built home from the Spanish colonial era that offers 7 independent superior and superior deluxe guest rooms. With interiors inspired by Cusco’s flourishing contemporary art scene, each guest room has been uniquely decorated with current works by artists from the local arts consortium, Totemiq, led by Berenice Díaz.
El Retablo Boutique B and B is Mountain Lodges of Peru’s most colourful property, a two-story, 17-room boutique bed & breakfast that celebrates vibrant Peruvian traditions and the rich cultural heritage of Cusco. MLP resurrected and converted the historic building into a stylish small hotel, three blocks from the heart of the bustling capital, Plaza de Armas. Innovative, intimate El Retablo blends contemporary comfort with the customs of Peruvian artisans, taking inspiration from retablos - a sophisticated Andean folk art form with three-dimensional figurines in vibrantly coloured boxes.
The interior spaces have been hand-painted with intricate details by artisans from the Fine Arts School of Cusco. A spacious garden patio welcomes guests and the adjacent lounge, decorated with vividly stylised flowers, affords authentic Andean hospitality with traditional breakfast served daily. Each of the 10 Superior and 7 Superior Deluxe rooms have a distinct design and include handwoven tapestries, luxury pillows and bed linens. Rooms can be configured as single, double or triple. Superior Deluxe rooms have views over Cusco.
